Tee
loved tulips and grew a profuse collection in a variety of pots surrounding her
patio, sometimes bringing them indoors.
It’s a Tulip Morning
for Tee and Bev
Inside coral
Two have spread themselves all night
wide to the world
before departure: one curves
toward moss green carpet, the other
arches to the wall of windows;
translucent petals
begin their outward curl
exposing ripe centers
Between them rise two more,
still vibrant. Crossing the comfortable
space, a duet of cello and lute;
seeking light, one tulip bends
firm petals, enfolding
the slim stem of the other

Helen
Laurence, a member of the group since 1997, lives on womensland and
revels in the union of writing, women, nature, community.
A teacher of writing for many years, her works have been published
